Description

The origin of Griffons dates back to 16th century Belgium, where they were specifically bred to provide company to hunters and raze rodents in stables and farmhouses. The Brussels Griffon and Belgian Griffon, are believed to be a cross between the Affenpinscher and the Pug.

Characteristics

Griffons are petite and warm-hearted, with a hankering for human companionship. They're quick-witted and vigilant, and their facial expressions range from sober to hysterical. Griffons are amazing with kids and make for wonderful family pets.

Living Environment

Griffons can flourish in various living environments, from rural to urban. As long as they're granted adequate attention and exercise, they can survive in apartments. For optimal growth and playtime, a backyard or a nearby park can work wonders.

Exercise

Griffons need moderate activity, like a daily jog or a walk in the park. They aren't high-octane dogs and don't require strenuous exercise. However, they do have a proclivity to pile on pounds, so watch their food intake and give them plenty of chances to move around.

Grooming

Griffons have coarse coats that are simple to maintain. They require regular brushing to untangle their loose hair and prevent matting. Their ears also require frequent cleaning to prevent infections. Due to their low shedding, Griffons may be suitable for people with allergies.

Health Problems

Despite being generally healthy, Griffons may be vulnerable to respiratory, eye, and skin allergies. Keeping up with regular vet visits and proper care can help forestall these issues.
